At east cosmos we make every effort to provide our employees with a pleasant working environment. The cross-hierarchical "du" philosophy, absolute equality and diversity, people's health and social and ecological sustainability are the pillars of our corporate culture.
In addition, joint, sometimes private, events help to strengthen social interaction and interpersonal "team spirit".
For many years we have been running joint events and activities - inside and outside the company - with a focus on various social components. We present some of them here:
For us, the focus is on the “you” – for everyone. Regardless of whether you are a trainee, employee or manager. The “you” promotes an open and appreciative interaction that connects us in our everyday working lives.
At east cosmos we live “Come as you are”: The diversity of our guests and employees makes us unique. Everyone is welcome and brings valuable perspectives – together we create an open and strong community.
Sustainability is important to us at east cosmos. We use various measures to combat climate change and conserve valuable resources. We have had the Certified Green Hotel certificate since October 2022 and are proud of it.

Every year we hold a health day in collaboration with AOK to promote the health of our employees. This day offers numerous activities that help to strengthen healthy lifestyle habits and support well-being.
46.7% of the 376 employees at east cosmos are women. They occupy various positions in all areas of the hotel and restaurant business and, like their male colleagues, ensure that the business runs smoothly every day.
In order to give our strong women a platform, we asked some of them to be interviewed and gained exciting and inspiring insights into their view of things. We have compiled all the interviews here. Enjoy reading.
We celebrate the anniversaries of our long-serving employees to recognize their commitment and loyalty to the company. Small events are held and gifts are given for five, ten or 15 years of service. It's about appreciation, team bonding and motivation.
The farewell of our beloved trainees is celebrated twice a year at the end of their training. The graduates are given ceremonial gifts and honored for their achievements by their department heads and colleagues. To our great joy, the majority of the trainees stay with the company - they are taken on and start their careers in the catering, event and hotel industry.
Every employee, regardless of their position, receives a birthday present initiated by management and the HR department. Many teams also organize additional, privately financed departmental gifts for their colleagues, bake birthday cakes, decorate desks or go out to eat together.

Active August is a motivating initiative by the company to encourage more exercise in everyday life and a healthy lifestyle for its employees.
On action days, personal values such as body fat percentage and vitamin D levels are measured and analyzed by external service providers. There are spinal exercises and reaction tests, nutritional advice and much more.
The annual charity event of the Michael Stich Foundation is a highlight in Hamburg. The east dragon boat team, the B EAST Y BOYS, has been there for many years and is the absolute record holder. No team has won the dragon boat cup race more often than the B EAST Y BOYS. If that's not a reason to celebrate! The diverse and multicultural team is always on the lookout for strong young talent.
The starting signal for the 16th MOPO team relay race was given at the end of August. The five-kilometer route, which was completed in teams of five, ran right through the city park. The two east cosmos teams, represented by sporty employees, held their own and completed the route in just under 2.5 hours!
The trainee canoe tour in the summer was an exciting event that gave the trainees the opportunity to work together as a team and get to know each other better in private, away from the company. In addition to canoeing, they enjoyed nature on and along the Alster and its tributaries and experienced a strengthening sense of community.
There were also sandy prospects in October 2024 for the trainees and department heads of east cosmos, as they all went to Beach Hamburg, the beach volleyball hall in Wandsbek, where numerous games, puzzles and lots of fun awaited the participants.
Our bright hotel dog and internal mascot April accompanies us at work every day and reduces stress with cuddles or provides the necessary break in the fresh air with ball games in the hotel garden.
In general, well-behaved dogs are very welcome in our offices, as they have been proven to contribute to a better working environment through various factors.
The employee parties in the east are legendary! All employees of the east cosmos are invited to celebrate together in the east. What's special is that these large events are organized and hosted by the trainees.
From finding a motto to the decoration concept to the service, the trainees have the opportunity to let off steam (under the watchful eyes of their department heads). They can let their creativity run wild and inspire their colleagues with unusual parties.
Our trainees regularly organize private events on their own, where they cook and laugh together. The good time spent together strengthens the team spirit and gives them the opportunity to exchange ideas outside of work and get to know each other better in a private setting.

Carving scary faces and grimaces into large orange pumpkins is a fun tradition and essential for the great decoration of the Halloween Ball at the end of October. It brings joy, creativity and a spooky atmosphere into the house. A joint team activity that is fun, lets creativity run wild, creates memories and ensures a festive Halloween atmosphere.
Around Christmas time, things get atmospheric in east cosmos when the trainees, in a concerted effort, grab flour, eggs, milk and lots of sprinkles and bake whatever they can to the best Christmas hits and punch.
The flood of cookies that follows is gobbled up in the teams and at home.
The internal employee Christmas market is a special event at which employees are rewarded for their work in the past financial year. It is all about getting together in a relaxed and Christmassy atmosphere, exchanging small gifts and the associated appreciation and gratitude for the commitment.
