15 years east - a party in east style with many guests and a lot of social commitment

Since it opened in September 2004, the east has become an integral part of Hamburg's gastronomic and hotel scene. In recent years it has established itself as a hotspot for guests from all over the world and is valued by locals as much as it is loved by regular guests. On September 28, 2019, invited guests, partners and suppliers will celebrate in the usual east manner and look back on the success story together.

On this evening, the east welcomes its guests on the red carpet with a Moët & Chandon champagne reception and live music by the Swiss band "Camen". After an official welcome by CEO and managing director Christoph Strenger, the finest sushi & sashimi creations and culinary highlights await at 15 food stations. The east has come up with something special on the subject of "drinking". All drinks are available for tokens and will be part of a donation to a good cause. Thus, the entire beverage turnover is donated and topped up by the east Hotel & Restaurant up to EUR 15,000. The donation sum goes to three charities and will be ceremonially presented in the evening:

EUR 5,000 goes to the "HerzPiraten" foundation. Patron and actress Nova Meierhenrich is committed to creating special experiences for children with heart disease.

Another EUR 5,000 will be accepted by drag queen Olivia Jones. These are donated to NestWerk e.V. to give children and young people from socially disadvantaged districts a perspective.

Last but not least, EUR 5,000 goes to the "ArztMobil Hamburg", which enables volunteer doctors, nurses and carers to provide necessary medical help on the streets of Hamburg.
After the official part, the east turns into an XXL dance floor with an impressive light and video show as well as the east resident DJs, who don't let any dance leg stand still.

In addition to long-standing friends of the house, regular guests and business partners, the invited guests also include prominent personalities from Hamburg society, social media, sports and the gastronomy scene.

But what would the east be without its employees?Under the motto 15 years people, 15 years family, 15 years east, the focus is particularly on the employees. Long-serving employees are shown in their work areas and activities in a separate large-format portrait series. "It's something special that 30 colleagues have been with us for over ten years, eight of them have even been with us from the very beginning," reports CEO Christoph Strenger proudly.

15 days, 15 promotions - the countdown is on
Already 15 days before the birthday party, i.e. from September 13, 2019, the east starts a countdown with special promotions and goodies. These are then communicated on a daily basis on Facebook, Instagram and on the homepage www.east-hamburg.de/events/15-years-east/ and can be redeemed by the guests or followers by naming the keyword. You can look forward to promotions such as: -15% on all massages in the east Body & Soul Spa; EUR 15.00 for a surprise menu in the east restaurant; EUR 15.00 for all house wines in the east restaurant; EUR 15.00 for a sushi roll and a glass of wine in the east restaurant; EUR 15.00 EUR for a tumbler glass set from the east shop and much more.

Time for a little review
The history of the east began in 2001. Christoph Strenger and business partner Thomas Kreye, who years earlier had purchased a property with the ruins of the former St. Pauli ironworks on Simon-von-Utrecht-Straße, had the vision of building a hotel there and build a restaurant. Christoph Strenger's idea in particular was to establish a design hotel with a gastronomy that should mainly be frequented by people from Hamburg. His major conceptual role models included Ian Schrager, world-renowned hotelier, restaurateur and founder of Studio 54 and Hudson in New York, the design hotel Delano in Miami and the Mondrian in Los Angeles. Years earlier, Schrager had started to develop lifestyle concepts whose restaurants were mainly frequented by locals. The second major inspiration for east was the famous Buddha Bar in Paris, a multi-storey restaurant in a historic building with vaulted cellars and several levels, similar to the property in St. Pauli.
This is how the idea grew to develop a gastronomy on two floors with different areas, bars and lounges. Christoph Strenger brought Chicago designer Jordan Mozer into the team for the actual implementation. Jordan Mozer is mainly responsible for the unique look of the east, which is reflected in the hotel rooms in the form of chairs, beds, lamps and other design elements throughout the house and makes something extraordinary.

After 36 months of construction, a hotel and gastronomy concept that was completely new for Germany opened in 2004 and has delighted guests from all over the world to this day.
"I'm still proud that the basic idea of ​​'location for locals' from 20 years ago still works so successfully and that many Hamburgers are still fans and guests of the east to this day," says Christoph Strenger.

The east has grownIn addition to the modernization of the existing 129 hotel rooms and the banquet area in the last two years, the former east Sporting Club and the uppereast nightclub were converted into 43 new, modern hotel rooms this year. With 172 rooms and an average occupancy rate of over 90%, the east is one of the most successful hotels in Hamburg.Over the years, the east has also grown outside of its walls into the east cosmos. Today, the east group includes the coast by east and the coast enoteca on the Marco Polo Terraces in HafenCity, the clouds - Heaven's Bar & Kitchen, the roof terrace clouds - heaven's nest and the conference floor clouds events in the dancing towers on the Reeperbahn and the Störtebeker Elbphilharmonie in the landmark of the same name. In addition, east cosmos operates coast by east and Sansibar Wine in the Port Adriano marina on Mallorca.

Facts about the east Hotel and Restaurant:
The heart of the east is the spacious restaurant with 230 seats, an open sushi bar, a long "Captain's Table" in the middle of the room and the green inner courtyard Dedon Island, which is connected to the restaurant by floor-to-ceiling glass doors. A large staircase leads from the restaurant up to the east hotel bar, the Yakshi's Bar. It is named after the Indian goddess of sociability and invites you to casual meetings and get-togethers with drinks, cocktails and coffee specialties and a view of the restaurant.
The Bombay Lounge on the opposite side of the restaurant is very well suited for stylish day and evening events or private dining, lectures and tastings. One floor up, hidden behind the honeycomb wall, is the cozy Bacardi Lounge with its own bar and dance floor.
The east has had a total of 172 rooms, suites and apartments since summer 2019. All extremely comfortably equipped with e.g. King-size beds, tablets, shower or double bathtub, air conditioning and high-speed WiFi. A separate room category is equipped with heatable water beds, while the newly designed studio and loft rooms (since summer 2019) by the Hamburg architect Giorgio Gullotta present themselves with spacious rooms and noble natural materials.
